Writing is in my blood. From creating a newspaper for my second grade class to penning poetry in high school, I’ve always had a pen or laptop in hand.
As an adult, this passion evolved into my becoming a journalist and writer, and then, a freelance obituary writer.
Of all the writing I’ve done, nothing is more rewarding or meaningful than writing obituaries about people who’ve passed.
It’s truly an honor to be allowed into people’s lives. As an obituary writer, you become a close friend of the family. You learn the ins and outs of a person’s life — the tiny details, the precious memories, the quirky personality traits.
You speak to bereaved family members. You cry with them, laugh with them.
As a freelance obituary writer, I get to tell a person (or pet’s) story in a vivid and memorable way — and there’s nothing I’d rather do. It’s incredibly meaningful and I remember every obituary I’ve ever written.
Telling the Stories of Those Who Have Passed as a Freelance Obituary Writer
I believe that every person is a jewel; a rare and unique individual whose life is full of singular events, loved ones, accomplishments, and so many other nuances.
Like a snowflake or a fingerprint, each story is rare and magical and unique. Everyone deserves to have their journey written about in a way that will be remembered and treasured forever.
That’s why I’m a freelance obituary writer … because it gives people a gift they’ll never forget.
You can read an obituary I’ve written and you’ll feel like you had a deep and abiding connection with the person who passed — whether you met them or not.
I hope you’ll take some time to read the obituaries and memorials I’ve written.
I’m very proud of them. And honored that people let me into their lives in such a private way.
It is my honor and privilege to do this work. And I’m grateful every day to be a freelance obituary writer.
If you hire me to write about a friend, loved one, family member, or beloved pet, I promise to do them justice and leave you with something you’ll always treasure.
